Acorn Again

With an existing Acorn Deck house in hand, a creative family sought a renovation that would modernize the space and still maintain a structural sense of play.

Mid-century modernize.

The mid-century design and clean lines of the house drove the initial direction and an admirable art collection brought the job beautifully to the finish line.

The unexpected and the familiar.

Renovations focused on the kitchen, dining room, laundry, and entry, with a plan that allowed for a more seamless flow between rooms. By removing existing walls and cabinets, space opened up for more family connection. Newly opened layouts were paired with unexpected pops of color and custom millwork design. A minimal palette of cool grays and whites intermingle with warm wood tones and mahogany paneling made from repurposed trim and casework. The result is full of surprise yet familiar in its welcoming warmth.
